Breakthrough science needs excellent operations. That is why we are delighted that QLAB’s administration is now headed by someone who has spent well over a decade managing scientific, R&D, investment, and commercial projects with a total value exceeding PLN 250 million – from concept, through implementation, to final settlement.
Marcin Zimny brings experience that is unique in Poland in running large European scientific excellence projects. At ENSEMBLE3, as Manager for Project Coordination and Implementation, he co-managed the “Teaming for Excellence” project worth approximately PLN 130 million – one of only seven such undertakings carried out in Poland to date. Previously, at the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, he held managerial positions overseeing the financial and administrative management of projects funded by, among others, NCN, NCBR, FNP, NAWA, and the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes. As a project manager in technology companies, he also coordinated R&D projects co-financed by NCBR, PARP, and the European Commission.
He specializes in securing national and European funding, building commercialization pathways for research results, and fostering science–business collaboration. At QLAB, he will be responsible for the Center’s day-to-day operations, supporting the research teams so that our scientists can focus on what matters most – research and bringing its results to the economy.
